- DIED. Benny Hill, 67, zany British comedian whose appearances
- on American television in the 1980s created a cult following; of
- a heart attack; in Teddington, England. For 30 years, Hill
- entertained the TV public with his version of the music hall:
- jokes, impressions and sketches, combined with songs and dance.
- Hill's bawdy slapstick humor, popeyed leer and knowing wink won
- him fans in more than 100 countries, including China and Russia.
- Responding to criticism that his skits, replete with skimpily
- clad women, were sexist, Hill declared, "If my sketches teach
- anything, it is that for the male, sex is a snare and a
- delusion. What's so corrupting about that?"
